My first blog!! Hi everyone, this is where I will be posting updates about my life and my journey with World Race! There are many questions and opinions about what I am doing and why, so I will try to answer them here. What: I will be going to Chiapas, Mexico, and Antigua Guatemala from January 13th to April 30th, 2026, hoping to share the good news with anyone I come in contact with, partnering with local organizations for outreach, and this trip also has a focus on education! As a group, we will be tackling a project of 25 of the world’s greatest problems to educate ourselves and others on ways to solve some of these problems. I will also be taking some college classes online while I am there. Why: Many people ask me why I am skipping my senior year of high school to “become an adult early” or “leave the best years behind,” and my response to that is that when the Lord lays something on your heart, you listen, no matter how hard or unusual or looked down upon it is, you go. I also refuse to believe that high school is going to be my best years…lol. This is an opportunity many people will never have, and I am so grateful to the Lord and my family for providing me with the option to go. While I know this trip will not be all rainbows and sunshine, I am so excited to see where God will take me. I know I am going to grow tremendously as a person and in my faith, I know I will be pushed to extreme points where I question every choice I have made, I know I will miss everyone at home dearly, I know there will be moments when i wish I chose the easy path of staying in my tiny private school and having my senior year, but I also know I made the right decsion by answering what God has put in place for me and that the Lord is going to use me for so much good through this trip. I know it might not be easy to understand why, but I hope you can still support me in my walk with what the lord has called me to do. Through these blogs, I will share my story with you and ways you can help support me throughout this journey. The first thing you can do for me is pray!! Pray that everything continues to fall in place, for the safety of my teammates as some of them leave in August to begin their journeys, for provision and protection during the time leading up to my trip, for the people we will be meeting, the Lord to open their hearts, and mostly pray that the Lord reveals his purpose for my team and I on our trip and that we can execute it to the best of our abilities.
With love, Layla Wright
